A primary focus of TEMENOS’ presence and educational activities in Ukraine is for the benefit of young people of all ages and to support their families to be involved with them in new and creative ways.  We have always been blessed with young people in our classes and community life and it is clear that they are calling us to grow and become wiser. 

A SMALL STORY from our Spiritual Leader: There is a first part of this story that I will tell you if you ask me. The second part goes like this . 

I noticed a new man at the Wednesday lecture and welcomed him. He is a doctor.  The next week he returned with his 20 year old son and the man responded to our request for volunteers for an upcoming project and the next day, there he was in the project planning meeting after work.  The next week his wife comes to lecture with him and his son. The next week the whole family signs up for Foundations class and always come on time with homework done. They now come to all events, volunteer regularly, often come to the classroom  with gifts to share. I watch, feel, listen and want to understand why this family is so clear and consistent in their desire to learn Science of Mind.  One day I ask the father, “what is it that has you be here as you are?”  He said: “My son, and all young people really, need more from me than I know how to be. They need more communication, more understanding and acceptance and more real support.  I was sad and frustrated that I didn’t know how to be what my son needed me to be so that I could be there for him and so, when by chance one of your staff people came to the medical clinic life gave me a new opportunity.  I prescribed medical treatments that I knew were generally successful – she told me that first she would do affirmative prayer, conscious thinking of health and wellness and knowing life if good and that all that was required for total healing was already available to her, in her body and her unity with the one life.  I was shocked but also something deep inside me felt that it could be so. I came here.  It is essential that I change and learn to be the person my son needs me to be. That is why I am here and thank you for helping me make this change.”

If a child lives with hostility, he learns to fight
If a child lives with ridicule, she learns to be shy
If a child lives with shame, he learns to feel guilty
If a child lives with tolerance, she learns to be patient
If a child lives with encouragement, he learns confidence
If a child lives with praise, she learns to appreciate
If a child lives with fairness, he learns justice
If a child lives with security, she learns to have faith
If a child lives with approval, he learns to like himself
If a child lives with acceptance and friendship, she learns to find love in the world.
